Epho successfully secures additional international strategic investors to further expand its commercial solar power business across Australia

(Sydney, Berlin, Jan 2015) Epho Pty Ltd, a leading developer of turn-key commercial solar power systems for businesses across Australia, has secured additional strategic investors, who will provide equity finance to fund the further growth of the company. The two investors are the companies Saferay and ib vogt, both with headquarters in Berlin, Germany. Saferay and ib vogt are major, highly successful global developers and EPC companies of utility-scale solar power plants. The combined experience of these two companies in delivering solar power plants exceeds 1 GW.

Oliver Hartley, Managing Director of Epho explains, “Epho will greatly benefit from the financial as well as the strategic support of our new additional shareholders. Their investment enables us to further expand our business and continue to provide exceptional service to commercial clients across Australia. Our clients will enjoy increased comfort from the fact that Epho is now one – if not the – leading company for commercial solar systems in terms of technical expertise backed by two of the most successful, globally operating developers of solar power plants.”

Marko Schulz, Managing Director of Saferay, said, “we have watched Epho from the beginning and have been very impressed with the company’s development. Our investment in Epho provides us with access into the commercial solar segment, where we have previously not been active, but where we see great potential, particularly in Australia.”

Anton Milner, Managing Director of ib vogt GmbH, highlighted, “commercial solar is a highly competitive market and we wanted to invest in a company of experts, which we have found in Epho. We believe that Epho’s business model can also be applied in many other markets outside of Australia and will complement our activities in the utility-scale solar power segment.”

About Saferay

Saferay was founded in 2010 by a highly experienced team. The company’s mission is to create a new kind of independent power producer that solely focuses on solar PV. The team has completed more than 700 MW of utility-scale solar plants on five continents. In 2013 it connected one of the world’s first large scale fully merchant solar plants in Chile. This is in line with its strategic vision that solar PV will become one of the most cost efficient ways of producing electricity and can compete with any other type of power generation without subsidies. Besides the Americas and Europe the company is currently focusing on building and operating PV power plants in Japan and South East Asia.
