Epho Commercial Solar has recently completed a 605kW solar installation at the new Toyota Parts Distribution Centre in Western Sydney.
Epho Commercial Solar managed the end-to-end design, engineering, procurement and construction of the solar system, which was completed in March 2018. The 36,000 square metre facility is located at Kemps Creek, NSW.
Epho’s Senior Project Manager, Axel La Toison explained the unique challenges of building the solar system: “The solar system was built within 4 weeks, in the midst of a live construction site that at any one time would have dozens of tradesmen on site. It was critical for Epho to take a flexible approach to keep the project on track.”
The solar system features 2200 solar panels, ten inverters and 14km of electrical cable, designed to provide clean, low cost energy for the next 25-years. Epho will also provide ongoing operations, monitoring and maintenance of the solar system.
The sourcing of solar energy is part of a global push from Toyota to reduce CO2 emissions via the Toyota Environment Challenge 2050, released in October 2015 . One of the targets is to achieve zero facility emissions. In response, Toyota Australia developed a Green Building Roadmap that aims towards achieving 5 Star Green Star Performance with further improvements to be implemented over time.
